On the Halachic Definition of a Tree
The definition of a tree according to Jewish law affects our everyday Jewish observance.

Cashews are nuts, which grow from trees. As such, the blessing on cashews is “Ha’etz.”
The blessing "Borei Pri Ha'etz" is recited over fruits growing from a perennial tree that does not renew its stem and does not grow too close to the ground.
