Isaac: (a) (1713-1533 BCE) Second of the three Patriarchs, son of Abraham
and Sarah, husband of Rebecca, father of Jacob
and Esau. First to be circumcised when eight days old. Readily accompanied his father to be sacrificed at the “Binding of Isaac.” Primarily occupied himself with digging wells. (b) A common Jewish name.
Isaac, Abraham's son, mirrored his father in many ways. He was nearly sacrificed, married Rebekah, and fathered Esau and Jacob, continuing Abraham's legacy.
Isaac is the second of the patriarchs of the Jewish people. He is most famous for his central role when he was almost offered up as a sacrifice to G‑d.
