Limonana is a Israeli summer classic. It needs to be served immediately to maintain its refreshing iciness.

For an adult version, add a splash of vodka.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice
  • ½ cup packed fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 2 cups ice cubes

Directions

  1. Pour the sugar and water into a saucepan and cook over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from stove and refrigerate until fully cooled.
  2. Place mint leaves, lemon juice, salt, and sugar syrup into a high-powered blender (or food processor) and blend. Add ice and pulse until thick and slushy.
  3. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Note: You can adjust the proportions of lemon/mint/sugar to your liking. There’s no “wrong” with this recipe.
