This has become my signature vegetable dish. It complements any entrée perfectly. My family loves this recipe and so will yours!

Yields: 3-4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. fresh green string beans
  • 1 cup pareve margarine or butter
  • 1 8oz. can water chestnuts or bamboo shoots, drained
  • 4 tbsp. teriyaki sauce
  • 4 tbsp. soy sauce
  • ½ lime, juiced

Directions

  1. Cut off the ends of the beans.
  2. In a sauté pan, melt the butter over medium high heat. Stir in the beans and water chestnuts. Saute the beans for 2 minutes. Stir or flip the string beans frequently. Add the teriyaki sauce and soy sauce to the pan.
  3. Sauté beans in the sauce for 1-2 minutes. Taste the beans to judge if they are sufficiently cooked. The beans should still have a bit of a crunch. Once the beans have the desired consistency, add the lime juice. Sauté over high heat for an additional minute.
