Esther Freeman story is amazing!! How I wish that I grew up in a Chabad Hasidic home. I'm a artist, and I often speak to HaShem about the gifts He has given me, and usually asked Him what is the purpose in my life. I never wanted to participate in this world of art, I have always given my paintings away and never asked for payment. Today, by listening to Esther Freeman and how she realized that the talents HaShem give us in life are for a purpose. Reply

That is a very good question. This is something I have spoken to Rabbonim at length about. The best answer for you would be to speak to your local Orthodox Rabbi. There are different Halachik parameters for everyone so I cannot make a blanket statement. Thank you for watching. Reply

I love the "anthem" song message - by conquering our world we conquer the world around us, just by being our healthy and true self, we can inspire without even trying, but just by being. This was personally eye opening of how to be a good mother, sister, friend, wife, etc. Reply

Esther Freeman stated that the Tora states "Kol Isha Erva..." That is not true. Nowhere in the Tora does it say that! There is an allusion in Shir Hashirim though but it is not explicit and the Rabbis infer from that that we should not listen to a woman's voice. I think that your speakers should be more accurate. It seems as if you are differentiating between the Talmud as not being Torah . But she clearly says to ask a Local Orthodox Rabbi for more info and that she is not a leading authority on the matter. Reply

Jared, First of all, the Talmud is not considered part of the Tora--overall or not. It is the Oral Law. Not saying that it should not be adhered to but statements should be accurate. Reply

Hi Uri,
Thank you for your comments, it is so nice to engage in a discussion with someone from Jerusalem about Torah.
The Sages call the 24 books of the Tanach, the Written Torah or Torah Shebichsav,
And the Talmud as part if The Oral Torah, or Torah Shebaal Peh.
When someone says, "I am learning Torah", that is generally understood to mean studying either the written or oral Torah.

Dear Anonymous.
I never said that the Talmud was not part of the (Oral) law. That is based on someone putting words in my mouth. The only possible place that there is an allusion to a woman's voice is in Shir Hashirim, ironically. There it does not state that one should not listen to a woman's voice. That book is part of the Tanach but not the 5 books of the Tora. When Esther stated Tora she implied Tora only. Public speakers need to be explicit in what they say otherwise their words can be misunderstood. Be that as it may, there is no explicit
violation if one hears a woman's singing voice. Reply

I pray that Hashem protect you and your family and always give you happiness and strength to continue doing what you like to do. Maybe you could make an arrangement with the studio to let a man sing the songs you wrote .
Of course you will always have the author rights but in this way you can share your values with everybody. Reply
