Can We Bribe G-d?

self-motivated repentance Thank you, You have encouraged me to forgive even the self-motivated repentant, and embrace, and hope that true higher level repentance is forthcoming, then transformation for both of us, that is pleasing to G-d. Reply

It's so hard not to bribe G-d. Sometimes I find myself doing this and feel guilty, especially on Shabbat when one isn't supposed to ever. I usually bribe G-d for other people, not my own, or do I? How do we pray not too? And does he listen when bribes are recited and felt in the heart?
Sometimes I wonder if G-d bribed Adam and Eve when he told them not to each the unkosher fruit. Was this a way of growth and leaving home? Reply
