Taryag Mitvot Shalom,

I greatly enjoy your teachings and all that I am learning from this website. Todah Rabbah. My question is (and I listened to your teaching on what constitutes a mittzvah and how they correct way of counting adds up to 613) why are the commandments concerning favoring a beloved son and the ben sorare not listed in the Ki Teitzei section of Taryag Mitzvot?

Mitzvoth 532-534 deal with the captive woman in warfare, and Mitzvah 535 jumps to vs. 22 of the sidrah and deals with capital punishment and hanging the corpse on a tree? It seems as though the inheritance and rebellious son commandments are overlooked but I know this cannot be the case.Thank you for your time.

Shavuah Tov v'Shalom!

I really enjoy your lectures! one small detail - I think R. Kaplan said "Ki Sisa" at the beginning, by mistake. Reply

Each week, Rabbi Mendel Kaplan will delve into that week's Torah reading to bring out a practical lesson for life and explain the Biblical sources for the customs, laws, practices and ethics of our people.
