If the world did not need you and you did not need this world, you would never have come here. G‑d does not cast His precious child into the pain of this journey without purpose.

You say you cannot see a reason. Why should it surprise you that a creature cannot fathom the plan of its Creator?

Now is the time to dig your hands into the earth, to tend to the garden, to care for life. Soon will come a time to understand, when the fruits of your labor blossom for all to see.

I've read them twice and each time they brought tears to my eyes and a feeling of renewed hope, energy and expectation of 'good' to this weary heart(and tired hands). Until Blossoms Come I started writing a comment on this blog after reading today's Dose, and by mistake click on the wrong key and lost my 1st comment. I find the love and inspiration on those who shared their pain, although it was a while ago they still bring such consolation to my soul. I truly hope that MiriShuli is doing well, my life is similar, and for Zev in Damaskus, who expressed such compassion and love, this is one of the greatest gift from our Creator. As for the perpetrator of our misery in the past, I know that if they haven't received their pay back from our Father, they surely will, either in this life or the one to come. You see my dearest brothers and sisters, HaShem, blessed is He, is not the perpetrator of these evil, it is mankind, guided by their evil inclinations. HaShem, gave us laws and statutes to live by, and human beings brake them. Submit to Him and place all into His hand. He loves you ALL, and I do too and pray for our return to Him as a family. Reply

Journey of pain One of the most devastating points of pain is losing someone to suicide - be it a parent, spouse, child or friend - the circle ripples out endlessly.

In my case, it was suicide of an adult child; not only do you have to deal with "why", but also "if only", "could have" or "should have."

I can't speak for others, but in my case, Hashem has provided me with many opportunities to speak about her suicide ... and has even blessed me with 3 people who told me that my words made a difference and kept them from committing suicide.

Another blessing from Hashem was sending a young man who suffered from bi-polarity; that young man shared his near-suicide with me ... it gave me a little peace because I now have compassion for a human being who are in that dark tunnel with no light and no hope. Reply

To each of us is given a purpose,in this life. Each of us has a unique place like leaves in what can be called the tree of life. When the Most High carves us in the palm of His hand,He equips us for that purpose for the standard of excellence. Howeverin all of creation,we are the only beings created in His image,the only things G-D gave the right of choice. That for the sole purpose of freely serving and worshiping Him or not. Having choice, we make our decisions. To find our purpose is to live good, all the pieces fit. When we engage in fields not our purpose, renders only discontent. The wise seek His direction in everything, leans on His wisdom, the fool says i can do on my own I dont need Him
Yes let us dig in, but only if we are called to dig and not to plant,water or harvest. Reply

Waiting for Fruition In general I know the L-rd has a purpose for each one. In particular honestly I am lost most of the time, can not see I am here good for anything. But at the same time I still believe the L-rd enough to make the best out of my life. So in my case I would say even if my life fails the Lord does not. Reply

MiriShuli if you did not have faith and if your soul did not know that you have something to contribute you would not have posted your note. You have contributed, you shared that you are in pain and struggling. Guess what we need you. We love you. You contribute by sharing who you are. You are much stronger than you even realize and by sharing you make the rest of us stronger and better.

You inspire me by sharing your pain and struggle. You are part of our congregation and now you must follow your own path and find your own peace. Be well my sister. I will pray for your soul to find healing. You have already made a difference in at least one man's life, mine. I am better just because you shared. Thank you. Reply

I am a lawyer. I was badly bullied in my last job and then was dismissed because I 'did not fit into the culture' (literally- was written) of the office politics although I was 'well liked and technically brilliant at my job which made others feel uncomfortable'. I finish this week. I have another, better one to start in March.I will be without pay until then. What is that about? My daughter is 18 and is likely to leave home this year leaving me alone. I have tried to be loving to all my family, but then am in the end alone. There will be deep changes in my life coming.
This last Shabbat I have been really crying out to G-d to show me the purpose of my life. What do I move forward to? This message - for me - is a direct word to me full of meaning as an answer to my prayer and questions. This message is a reply direcly from G-d to one seeking to hear him. Thank you. Reply

You say, "Or you can decide to think in terms of seeing what's beautiful and what needs to be fixed and what you are able to contribute in doing that fixing; finding meaning within every moment," and I'm curious if what you're saying here is the meaning/intent behind the saying, "Tracht Gut, Vet Zein Gut"? I can identify with some of what MiriShuli says because I, like everyone else in the world, have experienced pain and I want to know the 'Why' and the reason(s). I want to know why I've had bad things happen to me and why bad things happen to other people and why they continue to happen. My thought, and I don't know if I'm correct, is that maybe if I knew the 'Why' it would all make a little more sense? Unfortunately, I'm having problems with the Tracht Gut part. Reply

Beautiful commentary MiriShuli, I'm so grateful that Chabad.org chose not to censor your post. While I'm saddened about your past life experiences, YOU are now uniquely qualified to help others who may have been in your shoes too, and give hope and inspiration as no other can. Perhaps that was R. Freeman's message put into my words.

I too have had my "challenges" (polite word) in life, but I find in having overcome them (though, it's a constant process), I can be of service to others who may have had similar experiences.

In other words, I don't view my sometimes horrific past as a bad roll of the dice or, G-d forbid, punishment from G-d, rather an unique opportunity to be grateful (ho-da-ah) for climbing that ladder. My wishes for your (and my) continued growth in Judaism.

MiriShuli's post This may sound kind of harsh, but it's the only way I have to get my point across. I could shoot with some pleasant euphemisms instead, but I doubt they'd hit their target. Words spoken with caring, because what's the point in wasting a good life?

You have a choice: You can decide that purpose doesn't interest you because it's not uplifting enough being as delayed as it is; that life is a hopeless mistake and you've got all your own personal suffering to prove it as well as all the horrors of generations past. So nobody can demand anything from you and you're not to blame with whatever comes out of your life. When, after 120 years, you reach the heavenly court, you'll just utter the words, "What about Bergen-Belsen?" and all the judgmental angels will scatter and they'll have to let you in.

Or you can decide to think in terms of seeing what's beautiful and what needs to be fixed and what you are able to contribute in doing that fixing; finding meaning within every moment, and when you can't, just trusting that there must be some purpose unfathomable because, after all, we are kind of small. **And then you can get on with life**.

It's not up to anyone but you. But the opportunity to live a fruitful life doesn't come so often. Reply

This thought seems to be oxymoronic. If a person cannot see a reason for being, because we're just creatures and not capable of 'seeing', then how will everyone else 'see'? Aren't they just creatures also? And if the person who is living the pain cannot fathom a reason, what difference does it make that in the 'end' everyone will see/understand. Who caresat that point?

Somehow the thought of pain with a purpose isn't very uplifting either. I've lived through physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, at the hands of both of my parents. Even if I discover a purpose for all of that pain, I hope that I'm forgiven for not being impressed with a creator who choose those particular events for me.

Are you saying I *needed* the pain? A child needs to be abused? We needed Bergen-Belsen?

It is a nice mental construct, it does allow one to hope that someday, somehow, the unfathonable will be made clear. But frankly, someday is one day too late for me. Reply
