Certainty - Chabad.org

A mind directed entirely by its own reasoning will never be sure of anything. As good as the mind is at finding solutions and answers, it is even better at finding questions and doubts.

We were given minds so that we would reason and question. But we were also given Torah and its sages, so that our reason would have a faithful guide.

Ponder the truths the sages teach.
Take them apart, examine them with a critical eye, and then put them back together.
Your mind and heart will resonate with those truths,
until all your deeds are guided by a voice that has no second thoughts.

god The word god is a title, similar to mr, mrs, lord etc. When the word god is used, who does one refer to? Reply

Critical eye of the mind Many years ago, I stood asking what is Truth. My request to G-d was at that time to show me the Truth. I would, on my part forsake all that was not truth shown to me by G-d. So as you can see there is no time line for Truth. It comes on it's own time line not mine. I continue to seek and knowledge comes in the form of many directions. May G-d continue to increase my desire to serve G-d. Reply

For Norton You raise a valid point. The words of the sages include many debates, often from diametrically opposing views. Even within the written Torah itself, we find debates between man and man, and between man and G‑d.

Perhaps we have to see truth not as a statement, but as a quest. Perhaps the ultimate truth is not punctuated with an exclamation mark, but a question mark.

Slavery is an interesting example. A keyword search for slavery on our site will pull up some of the debate on that issue. Reply

It is an assumption but not necessarily the case that the Torah and some Jewish sages provide truth. Many thoughtful, knowledgeable and sincere individuals, who have studied Torah and the sages do not accept and actually reject with good reason some concepts and statements in the Torah. Should I, to cite but one example, believe that slavery is acceptable, because the Torah condones it? I think not. Should I, to cite another example, accept the idea that the Jewish soul is superior to the non-Jewish soul, because Rabbi Scneur Zalman so wrote in the Book of Tanya? I think not. These are but two of many examples that can be and have been cited by individuals as concepts worthy of rejection. Reply

The Mind I enter a time of blessings and I think all is well. That all truth is on my side. In times of trouble my mind is clouded with doubts and faith. The Torah and the great teacher's of times past and now encourage my mind to see what is today. The mind is always searching for peace. May we all find that time now. Reply

certainty The message looks like a definition of Daat, knowing something with Chachma/Wisdom and Binah /Understanding with such a total grasp that the Knowledge/Daat lodges in your heart and becomes a part of your entire being. Belief in G-d and everything that goes with that belief, for example, Torah and mitzvot. One of the best examples i can think of is receiving the Torah at Sinai : First we will do ( accept it) and then we will understand ( it ). They accepted the Torah with absolute certainty. Of course in many following incidences they fell off the wagon, but this gave that legacy to the generations after. If that example is weak, try 1+ 1 = 2. You don't need math symbols. You see one thing standing next to another and you ' see ' with all your heart/mind/daat that there are two things. This Knowledge is part of you.

The acronym CHaBaD comes from this CHochma Binah Daat relationship. G-d exists. G-d is One. Truth exists. G-d is Torah/Truth. ' See/Seek ' Him in everything. Reply

Certainty through inspiration Our minds have the option to choose from Perversity or the Angel of Truth. We choose feely.

Despite the fact that Truth is found when we search, however, following the correct path is difficult.

Globally religions mislead. Globally people consider themselves or their faith to be superior to others instead of being good from within & observing G-d's Laws instead of Mans Laws.

Time has come, when the truth is being released. I pray that he who has eyes & ears do not follow crowds blindly but rather identify misleading truths.
