The Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Response to Loss and Tragedy

Whether responding to a widow struggling to explain her husband's death to her children, or to a community whose school was the target of a terrorist attack, the Rebbe provided support and solace to individuals and communities experiencing loss and tragedy, guiding them toward the hope for a brighter future.
Translation of a letter from the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson —
This person had invited members of his community to a festive meal in his
home on Shavuot, to celebrate the completion of a Torah scroll which was
scheduled to be presented to the synagogue in the days following the festival.
In the course of the celebration, a young woman suddenly fell ill and died. The
distraught host wrote the Rebbe, seeking answers to his questions
