Stolen Wisdom As Rabbi Zusha of Anipoli said, it is a good lesson to learn from a thief. Meditating on these seven principles, is one thing. Another is applying them. The thief is very good at deceiving people. He prays to his evil dominions to help him in the work. These impose themselves on the good of others. I believe that nothing is impossible for G-d. We need the wisdom from G-d to fight this evil. Because there are those who are capable of even stealing our spiritual gifts from G-d for their own evil purposes. May Hashem, blessed be He, have mercy on us, for they are increasing. Reply

Stolen Wisdom The point of this Parshah was not to understand thieves, or look up to them. The Baal Shem Tov said it quite succinctly - use negative behavior or acts to find a lesson that can be used in the service of G-d.

If I look at the seven characteristics listed by Rabbi Zusha, the challenge is to find the way I can apply them into my life and this is what I came up with:

1. Keep the mitzvot I do to myself - I don't need to boast about what a good person I am.
3. Observance of kashrut - pork & seafood are “major”; MSG is “minor” - examples
4. Study of Tanya for knowledge and an attempt to increase spirituality.
5. Take immediate action when presented with an opportunity to do a mitzvah.

I have only listed 4 examples because other applications of this Parshah do not relate directly to the service of G-d; I have, however, found ways to use them in my life. Reply

Reflections on thieves These 7 insights into thievery have given me much thought. Does this mean we should look up to them? Or better understand them?
