Have you ever made your own ice cream?
It's easier than you might think!
You will need:
- 1 lb strawberries, washed, hulled and cut
- 1/2 cup sugar, divided
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- Blender
- Ice cream machine or popsicle molds
Step 1:
Wash and slice the strawberries. Sprinkle 1/4 cup sugar over the strawberries and let them sit for 15 minutes. Stir and let sit another 15 minutes or so. The sugar will macerate the berries. This means the sugar will draw the juice out of the berries, and they will become sticky and syrupy.

Step 2:
Pour the strawberries (and the syrupy juice) into a blender. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth.
Step 3:
Pour the mixture into the bowl of an ice cream machine and churn until thick and creamy. Serve immediately or freeze for later.
If you don't have an ice cream machine, you can pour the blended mixture into ice pop molds. They'll be a cross between ice cream and ices.
Enjoy!
